Launch of the new Rescue Boat, the new “Superior”
A great morning was had by all on Sunday 9th November at the launching of our new rescue boat “Superior”. Bathed in sunshine we welcomed the City of Kingston Junior Mayor Naveen Satish Kumar to officially launch the boat by a ceremonial cutting of the ribbon.
It was great to see our supporters Joanne Knight and Peter Wolff from the Parkdale Mentone Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank, Sam Watson from Yachting Victoria, local MP Lorraine Wreford and City of Kingston Councillors Geoff Gledhill and Tamsin Bearsley.
Our gratitude to BHP Biliton who through an employee matched funding scheme provided substantial funds which assisted us in purchasing this boat. Thanks also to our member who facilitated this process.
The new boat will ensure that we keep providing a safe environment for all our sailors, and with its low soft sides ensure that it pull up safely alongside any craft. It will also be a great bonus for our junior training allowing close access to all our juniors whilst they are out in the water.
Thanks to all those hard working members who put in so much time in procuring this new boat, and also to those who have worked hard in selling the old craft.
The morning was also highlighted by the presentation of a defibrillator, generously donated by the Parkdale Mentone Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank. Once again we are extremely grateful for the contribution the Parkdale Mentone Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank makes to the Parkdale Yacht Club and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship in the future. We encourage all our members to pop into the branch for a chat to see what services Bendigo Bank can provide.
