Some fun conditions last week and we got the juniors out in the water and three races completed in the afternoon. Well done to all.
This week we have the Ironman marathon in Melbourne. This means we will have an assortment of athletes running along the beach path in front of our club all afternoon and into the evening. The set up will be identical to last year which went off without a hitch.
Our club will be used for a number of things:
– a drink station so there will be a large water container at the south end of the club as well as drink tables set up
– a toilet and first aid area, at the north end of the club
There will be a light station and toilet in place at the north end by Saturday. I have advised on the best location of these. Volunteers will commence setting up late Sunday morning. The first runner is expected between 1300-1400, and they go all the way through to midnight
So this is what we need to do:
– heartily support these athletes – good luck to member Aaron DeFina who is competing!
– cooperate with the organisers
– no boats to be sitting on the apron before or after the race
– de-rig all boats on the beach, and then when the path is clear, move into the shed or up the ramp promptly.
thanks for your patience, cooperation and courtesy.
