Success for Tess!
Congratulations to Tess Lloyd who last week placed 6th in the 49erFX at the 2015 ISAF Sailing World Cup in Miami (26-31 January). Many of you will know that Tess learnt to sail at PYC and she has gone from strength to strength. She is aiming to represent Australia at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Mum Tonia provided this little update…

“Tess and Caitlin Elks will spend most of their time competing with the best in the world at ISAf world cups and recently at Miami finished 6th and 1st Aussie. A great improvement from last year where they finished 16th.  Miami was 1st grade event and  a qualifying event for countries to be selected for Rio. Tess and Caitlin have qualified AUSTRALIA for a spot at Rio in the 49erfx class. They achieved this with their finish position of 11th (1st Aussie) at the previous worlds Santander 2014.
The  photograph (below) was taken at Santander on the water after the finish of the last race. The photograph says it all.
Tess and Caitlin need to meet challenging criteria to be selected for Rio. Tess speaks fondly of Parkdale Yacht Club and attributes this to her love of sailing. There is a radio interview  from Tess on the Yachting Victoria site that highlights Parkdale Yacht Club.
Their facebook page – Tess Lloyd and Caitlin Elks road to Rio 2016, follows their journey.”
